first video

This is a video of Ella's first moments- so she's kinda gooky. What is funny is that you can hear the nurses talking about how she has teeth and also she pee's on the table right off the bat- so thats funny. I look kinda ruff in the video- joe shot this right after, so thats my first time holding her and I still haven't had anything for pain at this point.

big news this weekend

So big news this weekend!
That's right the Bills are 4-0 after their amazing win over the Rams this past Sunday afternoon!
GO BILLS :)

However, prior to the bills victory- guess what else happened! Baby Ella Joyce was born!

Yep- we went to go see the doctor on friday morning- just to check things out. And the doctor said nothing was really going on. So I told the doctor that the OB that we saw in the hospital earlier in the week wanted to maybe start to move things along and was talking about inducing labor. My doctor said that they don't do that on fridays - but maybe he could send me to the hospital just to get some prostaglandins just to soften things up- but no contraction medicine. The prostaglandin thing was a 12 hr treatment and then I could go home in the morning. So- we thought "sure, why not" and went to the hospital.

So at 11:30 am to 11:30 pm I got this drug that did endup causing me some painful contractions that were about 5 mins apart. By the middle of the night they really didn't think things were going anywhere because my contractions weren't really steady or that strong- so I guess I was just in pain, but not in labor.

To help with some of the pain I went and used the whirlpool tub. It was great and made things much more bearable. Joe had fallen asleep on the tile floor of the bathroom- and while I was in the tub, I felt a really weird pop. It was just weird- so I got out and told joe I wanted to go back to our room. I told the nurses about the pop and said "maybe my water broke"- for about 10 mins they didn't think it had, but eventually they did some tests and found out it did. After that things got nuts-and if you don't want details don't keep reading-

So they told me the tub must have been a good idea because I was then 2cm dilated and having regular contractions- meaning I was finally in labor all on my own. It was maybe 2 am at this point. All the sudden - the pain got nuts. I started screaming, but they told me I was fine and that I couldn't take any meds until I got to 4 cm and I still had hours till then. Well, after about 20 mins of screaming- they checked me again and were shocked to see I was 6cm dilated- in just a few mins. So they finally called for some drugs, but because it was the middle of the night- the drug guy was on call and would be at the hospital within 30 mins or less-kinda like a pizza guy:) - Well, we didn't get 30 mins. I was fully dilated about 10 to 15 mins after that. Again, I was screaming in pain and saying that I needed to push- but they kept telling me "no way, don't push"- They were all just shocked when they discovered that it was time to push and they ran and got the doctor from down the hall. It was crazy- and then I asked -is the drug guy here yet?- of course he wasn't. I asked if he was going to make it in time-and the nurses all got quiet. I think thats when I lost it...

The pain was..wow-I still can't believe I lived and didn't pass out. It was just the most insane thing I have ever done. I was in such shock for about a day and a half. On top of all that- I found out that I'm one of those few people that can have a labor shorter then 3 hrs- so thats scary.

Joe was so great when she was born. He cried so much-the nurses almost started to cry. And Ella is so perfect. She had no trauma or cone head or stress because everything was so fast. She was 7lbs 11oz born at 3:35am on 9-27-08 and was 20.5 inch long. She has brown hair with reddish blond highlights and hazel eyes. Hope you enjoy the pics- she is crying right now so I have to go

still pregnant

So we are still pregnant- I spent monday and tuesday in the hospital for observation. It was pretty lame. They think my blood pressure is high- but everytime they checked it at the hospital it was like 116/70 ish. After 24 hours of that, they sent me home. So I have been on bed rest pretty much since I got home from boards. But that has been the story of this pregnancy- my doctors seem to freak out about stuff - and then they put me through a bunch of tests and find out I'm healthy.

I got a post from Joe's aunts on myspace asking for baby updates- so thats why we are gonna start this. That and everyone else has one- and I really enjoy being like everyone else:)
So the plan is to post pics here instead of facebook and myspace so its all in a central location.

So also they got me on this "no sodium" diet. Its pretty much the worest thing ever. Not only can I not cook for myself- cause of the bed rest- what I can eat is super bland. So, I have been at Joe's cooking mercy this past while. So-ya, he made leg of lamb over an open fire lastnight- he didn't even eat it. We gave some of it to the dog- she loved it.

The baby room is pretty much all done- We just need to move stuff around. Here are some pics of the room.

We have the super cool crib- I love the dark cherry finish and the sleigh bed cut. It turns into a regular bed too- so we should be able to use it forever. The room is a purple blue color- so if we have a boy its blue and if we have a girl is purple. It turned out more purple then I had planned- but I still love it cause I did it myself.

I think we might have the kid tomorrow. I say that because everytime we go to the doctors-they ask how I feel about being induced soon. When I left the hospital Tuesday- they told me that they were thinking Friday would be a good inducing kinda day. I don't know how I really feel about that. Medically, induction causes more pain and prolonged labor with a increased risk of C-sections. Personally-that doesn't sound so fun to me. On the upside- I could eat salt again :)
