birth announcement

Ella's birth announcement should be in the lockport paper on 10/26 - so try to pick one up if you can!
I guess the hospital never gave the newspaper the forms we filled out to have it included. so thats why its so much later in the month then it should be.

babysitter

We found a babysitter!

Her name is barb and she used to watch amy walck's kids-I met her the other day and she seems great-

so thats a huge weight lifted off my shoulders- we had been praying for childcare for the past 9 months-almost every night-so even though its last minute, it looks like things are coming together. and besides having a babysitter sure beats my original plan of having ella pose as my midget chiropractic assistant to my patients. it could work, but i dont think Ella has the pec strength yet to adjust anyones lumbars- so that might have ruined the plan. Anyway-

Here is some video of ella's first tummy time from this week.

The inlaws came in this week- we are going to dinner with them tonight- so I should have some pictures of that later.

new pics

Hey here are some new pics- actually some are kinda old. The carseat ones are coming home from the hospital. She is in a special outfit from her bacia and the blue head rest thingy is courtesy of cousin Joshua. The nudy pic is a rejected picture from her birth announcement- I thought it was great but my mom and joe didnt like it.

First day all alone

So joe is back at work today-

Things are going ok so far. Ella is actually sort of almost taking a nap. For the past two days she has been up all during the day- almost no naps-so that has kept me really busy.

Yesterday, while she was asleep for a couple mins. I cut her nails for the first time and painted them pink. I'm sure I broke some "your baby is too young" rule by doing that- but they came out soo cute. She also got her second real bath yesterday. She seems to really enjoy being in the warm water.

So- If you know joe well- you know that he always complains that I sleep with the tv on all night. It drives him nuts- but with Ella up all night anyway, I need it. So he told me that he was having this really cool dream the other night. I guess he was a gladiator on his way to Rome. So he and a bunch of dudes are about to have this big fight in Rome- very 300 style. So they all get to Rome, but there is a problem-some guest speaker is already booked in the Colosseum. Turns out the guest speaker is Klee Irwin- the midnight infomercial colon cleanse guy. If you don't know about this guy- you need to click on the link and watch the first video to see why it freaks joe out so much. So anyway...due to the colon cleansing seminar- the whole gladiator fight was off- and thus I ruined Joe's super cool dream. I guess we all have our faults.

one more week

So we went back to the doctor on Monday. They were super impressed with Ella's weight gain. She gained about 2oz a day for a total of 8lbs and 1oz-and at this doctor's appointment she only had 2 poopy diapers-so that was good. She also had her eyes and ears and tummy checked-and the doctor checked out those bottom teeth she has-weird.
Emily and Allison came over to meet their new cusion. They were excited to meet her and they gave her a glow in the dark "first halloween" onesie.

We went to Becker Farms yesterday to pick apples with Josh and Babcia. This was the first time Ella used her big stroller. She looks a little stressed - cutest squishy face ever!

Joe and Josh picked a bunch of apples- and the stroller eventually fell hazard to some of the pit falls in the road. But we made it- and Ella even had her first bottle while we were out.
Joe is going back to work on Monday - and I'm trying to go back on 10-27..It all depends on if I can find good childcare - I am meeting with a new person on Tuesday-so pray that it goes well and we can afford it.

one week old

Yay! we made it past the first week!
So, Ella is seven days old today. We had our first doctor's appointment on thursday. It went pretty well- she still weighs 7 lbs and 8 oz, which is what she was when we left the hospital. The good news was that she only lost 3 oz of her birth weight, but I guess she was supposed to gain about one oz a day since we got home. So we have to go back monday to get that checked again. She also kept the appointment interesting by having 4 poopy diapers at during the appointment and then right after the doctor left the room- she spit up her whole lunch on their table. It was really gross...

Aunt Nancy came to visit us at the house-she brought a ton of dinners for us and hung out for a bit on friday.

And then, also for her seventh day birthday, Ella lost her umbilical cord. To be honest, I think it was a causality of her sponge bath last night- I think the edge of it got caught on something. So, I hope thats ok-I'm going to show it to the doctor on monday cause it is kinda gooky looking still- and I don't have a clue what its supposed to have looked like.
So thats all the fun that has happened these last few days- Its been so nice having Joe home and my mom over. The lenghts I have to go to, to get joe to do chores-
