big news this weekend

So big news this weekend!
That's right the Bills are 4-0 after their amazing win over the Rams this past Sunday afternoon!
GO BILLS :)

However, prior to the bills victory- guess what else happened! Baby Ella Joyce was born!

Yep- we went to go see the doctor on friday morning- just to check things out. And the doctor said nothing was really going on. So I told the doctor that the OB that we saw in the hospital earlier in the week wanted to maybe start to move things along and was talking about inducing labor. My doctor said that they don't do that on fridays - but maybe he could send me to the hospital just to get some prostaglandins just to soften things up- but no contraction medicine. The prostaglandin thing was a 12 hr treatment and then I could go home in the morning. So- we thought "sure, why not" and went to the hospital.

So at 11:30 am to 11:30 pm I got this drug that did endup causing me some painful contractions that were about 5 mins apart. By the middle of the night they really didn't think things were going anywhere because my contractions weren't really steady or that strong- so I guess I was just in pain, but not in labor.

To help with some of the pain I went and used the whirlpool tub. It was great and made things much more bearable. Joe had fallen asleep on the tile floor of the bathroom- and while I was in the tub, I felt a really weird pop. It was just weird- so I got out and told joe I wanted to go back to our room. I told the nurses about the pop and said "maybe my water broke"- for about 10 mins they didn't think it had, but eventually they did some tests and found out it did. After that things got nuts-and if you don't want details don't keep reading-

So they told me the tub must have been a good idea because I was then 2cm dilated and having regular contractions- meaning I was finally in labor all on my own. It was maybe 2 am at this point. All the sudden - the pain got nuts. I started screaming, but they told me I was fine and that I couldn't take any meds until I got to 4 cm and I still had hours till then. Well, after about 20 mins of screaming- they checked me again and were shocked to see I was 6cm dilated- in just a few mins. So they finally called for some drugs, but because it was the middle of the night- the drug guy was on call and would be at the hospital within 30 mins or less-kinda like a pizza guy:) - Well, we didn't get 30 mins. I was fully dilated about 10 to 15 mins after that. Again, I was screaming in pain and saying that I needed to push- but they kept telling me "no way, don't push"- They were all just shocked when they discovered that it was time to push and they ran and got the doctor from down the hall. It was crazy- and then I asked -is the drug guy here yet?- of course he wasn't. I asked if he was going to make it in time-and the nurses all got quiet. I think thats when I lost it...

The pain was..wow-I still can't believe I lived and didn't pass out. It was just the most insane thing I have ever done. I was in such shock for about a day and a half. On top of all that- I found out that I'm one of those few people that can have a labor shorter then 3 hrs- so thats scary.

Joe was so great when she was born. He cried so much-the nurses almost started to cry. And Ella is so perfect. She had no trauma or cone head or stress because everything was so fast. She was 7lbs 11oz born at 3:35am on 9-27-08 and was 20.5 inch long. She has brown hair with reddish blond highlights and hazel eyes. Hope you enjoy the pics- she is crying right now so I have to go
